On 11 July 2023, Professor Jeng-Tzong Chen from National Taiwan Ocean University, Keelung, Taiwan, an internationally recognized expert in the boundary element method and its applications, visited the Institute of Thermomechanics of the CAS. Prof. Chen gave a lecture entitled “Dual Boundary Element Method in Taiwan since 1986”, in which he summarized the development of the Boundary Element Method and its applications in various engineering fields such as material fatigue modelling and coastal erosion protection. Accompanied by Professor Jong-Dar Yau from Tamkang University and his Master’s student, both also from Taiwan, they then toured the experimental facilities of the Laboratory of Thermomechanics of Materials and got a closer look at the experimental research on material plasticity and fatigue in the laboratory.
