Opening of a unique 3D Atom Probe Tomography (3D APT) laboratory

In the presence of Radomír Pánek, President of the Czech Academy of Sciences (CAS), representatives of the Operational Programme Jan Amos Comenius (OP JAK) project “Ferroic Multifunctionalities” (FerrMion), and other distinguished guests, a new 3D Atom Probe Tomography (3D APT) laboratory was officially opened at the Institute of Thermomechanics of the CAS on Monday, May 25, 2026. This unique instrumentation will allow scientists to better understand the behavior of smart materials for future applications and bring theoretical research closer to practical implementation.

“Today’s event represents a significant milestone for the Institute of Thermomechanics of the Czech Academy of Sciences as well as for Czech research as a whole. We are opening a laboratory equipped with state-of-the-art technology that is unique within the wider region of Central and Eastern Europe,” said Radomír Pánek, President of the CAS.
