The Institute of Thermomechanics of the CAS (IT CAS) provides newly recruited international employees with limited assistance in finding accommodation prior to their start date and arrival, subject to current capacity and possibilities.

Short-term or temporary housing options, such as Hotel Mazanka, can be arranged in advance to ensure a smooth transition. Following onboarding and the successful completion of the probation period, additional long-term housing programs become available, including Czech Academy of Sciences (CAS) employee apartments and reduced-rate housing through external partnerships. Employees are also encouraged to explore local rental portals.

Hotel Mazanka

Hotel Mazanka provides accommodation primarily for foreign researchers, academics, and guests of the Czech Academy of Sciences. It offers a convenient initial base when arriving in Prague, subject to current room availability.

Long-Term Housing Programs for Employees

Czech Academy of Sciences Employee Apartments

The Czech Academy of Sciences (CAS) offers a pool of apartments dedicated to promising employees across its institutes.

  • Allocation: Apartments are assigned by the CAS Housing Committee through regularly announced open competitions.
  • Access Note: Detailed rules, open calls, and application forms are hosted on the internal intranet and are accessible only from the CAS network domain (IP address).

Affordable Housing by Česká spořitelna (Dostupné bydlení ČS)

Through a partnership project with Česká spořitelna (Dostupné bydlení České spořitelny), IT CAS employees can access reduced-rate rental housing in new developments across Prague and regional areas.

  • Benefit: Rental rates are approximately 20% below the market price.
  • Eligibility: Available to institute employees after successfully completing their probation period.
