Laboratory of Energy Storage

Department:   Department D 2 - Thermodynamics
Head:   Ing. Jozef Kordík, Ph.D.

Laboratory of Energy Storage investigates material properties for development and design of new technologies for energy storage, in particular for thermal energy storage (TES). Mechanical, chemical, and phase changes of TES materials are studied together with heat and mass transfer processes. TES has the potential to play a groundbreaking role in the heat supply in the built environment, which is responsible for about 40% of the prime energy use in Europe. Laboratory of Energy Storage was established under the collaboration between the Institute of Thermomechanics of the CAS and the Institute of Chemical Process Fundamentals of the CAS, v. v. i.
