On November 3, 2026, the premises of the Institute of Thermomechanics of the CAS hosted the second edition of the Matchm-AI-king event, which followed up on the successful June meeting at the Czech Institute of Informatics, Robotics and Cybernetics CTU (CIIRC CTU). The goal of the event, held as part of AI Days, was to support interdisciplinary cooperation and connect researchers and experts from various institutions who utilize artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) in their work.
The program offered a series of presentations focused on specific examples of AI/ML applications in natural and technical sciences, biomedicine, industry, and the humanities. Participants thus had the opportunity to share practical experience, present their own projects, and establish new contacts for future interdisciplinary endeavors.
The Institute of Thermomechanics of the CAS was actively represented by Michala Jakubcová, who delivered a talk on using machine learning as a surrogate for computationally expensive models – from CFD simulations to environmental forecasting (Machine Learning as a Surrogate for Computationally Expensive Models: From CFD Simulations to Environmental Forecasting).
The event was organized under the Strategy AV21 research program “AI: Artificial Intelligence for Science and Society“.
