A numerical approach based on the general differential equation results from an energy balance on an element of the fin has been developed and applied to the extended surfaces of different one-dimensional circular fin configurations (rectangular, convex parabolic, triangular and concave parabolic). The excessive fin surface temperatures relative to the temperature of surrounding air are plotted against the dimensionless fin distance measured from the fin tip.
